Our country would be a much better place if people came to the simple realization that we will all someday die. Maybe people would stop focusing their attention on gathering wealth and start contemplating the importance of compassion. They might enjoy the company of their fellow countrymen rather than trying to outdo them. They might develop their talents rather than comparing themselves to others. They might create positive energy and stop pointing out the faults of others. They might build a better world rather than sitting down on the couch. Straight up.. American jazz music has changed my life in a profound way.. jazz cats in the 60s and 70s were creating a type of music that transcends time and space, a movement in music that can never be repeated.. From the first time I heard Kind of Blue.. that was Miles beyond.. in the lab studyin jazz breaks, chemistry, Kerouac, improv, Diz, Bird, new ideas, eastern philosophies.. Miles away.. at the record store digesting all the Jimmy Smith albums I could find.. Learnin from NYC hip hop pioneers Dig Planets, Tribe, “and last but not least the Zulu Nation.” Cannot stop spinnin’ those Monk riffs, the spiritual awakening of Trane’s Afro Blue, walkin down blocks with Herbie Hancock in my headphones.. noddin to Sun Ra, Fela and Madlib.. J Dilla forever.. Peace to jazz heads and all people who love American jazz and hip hop.

On the left, Andy Warhol’s Green Car Crash (Green Burning Car I) & on the right, Jackson Pollock’s No. 5 1948.  I believe America will continue to be pioneers, as well as revolutionaries, in art and culture.   There are currently artists actively pushing the limits in their realm similar to how Jackson Pollock and Andy Warhol defined “Modern Art”.  Cheers to you, and know I’m glad you choose to grab pens, brushes, microphones, instruments, or just use your hands to fill your canvass with what you see and want.  Much of it I look at and today say, how; tomorrow, wow; and artists you should definitely be tRUU proud.

Once a major life goal is obtained, it is interesting to look back at the entire picture: the beginning, the ups, the downs, the ones who didn’t believe, the ones who helped and all the small things.  A reality sinks in that this wasn’t just about the end, but more about the life in between the start and finish.  With that the meaning of life: Living for what you believe, making dreams real life memories.

AND so I challenge you to have daily, weekly, seasonal and of course life long goals.  Be selfish and have many goals, but understand how it will affect your friends, family and others.  Also remember that not everything is meant to be.  Thoughts and feelings change, and giving up on something for which you no longer believe in is not a waste of time, rather a realization that you got lost and that you have found your tRUUth.  But always strive to accomplish for what you instinctively need, want and believe: climb your Everest, discover your Atlantis, but whatever it is make sure that when you look in your review mirror you can say “I’m happy I drove myself this far, this direction.”

Let us stand up and make our voices scream in positives.

Take pride and be proud of everything you do, whether you fail or succeed.

They are both lessons learned from yourself and others.

Don’t try and be someone you’re not.

Have idols, but try to be your own.

We should act not react.

Be truu to yourself and not what is perceived by others to be true.

Stay sharp and on top of your game.

One thing that makes the US so great… Many People will answer something along the lines of freedom, which is definitely true.  BUT something America has to offer that many other countries do not is the WIDE VARIETY of Outdoor Escapes.  From the Everglades to the Badlands to the Colorado Rockies to the Tetons/Yellowstone to the Rain Forest in Washington to the picturesque coastlines to the inland bodies of water to even more. And all these offer different species of wildlife.   America and it’s outdoors rock, and the National Parks system is second to none!!
